The space

This project presents the flooring as an integral architectural element. It is installed in a fully custom herringbone pattern, with each plank hand-cut to ensure accuracy, consistency and proportion.

Together, the precision of the herringbone layout in the dining room and the understated finish support the architecture as a whole, balancing craftsmanship, texture and geometry to deliver a timeless and cohesive interior.

The floor

Builder Amy Doyle chose Copley for its natural design. “Copley’s matte finish, subtle texture, and natural knots blend effortlessly with our home’s aesthetic. The flooring adds warmth and depth and timeless character that ties in every design element throughout the home.”

Light distressing softens the surface, while nuanced tones of wheat and light gray introduce depth and variation without disrupting the overall calm of the design. These subtle color shifts interact with natural light throughout the day.

Under the French oak, the engineered plank has a Para Wood core with blocks laid perpendicular to the oak's grain. The crossed grains restrain each other, so the hardwood floor moves less.
