Species

Treads are made from select White Oak to match all of our French Oak flooring. We offer hickory treads to match our Hickory Pecan flooring.

Finish & Color

Treads are colored to closely approximate the color of the Sawyer Mason reactive stained flooring and finished with oil.

We also offer Square Nose treads with a slight 2mm rounded edge.
This square, box-like tread is great for a more modern look versus the traditional bullnose tread.

Returns

Treads may be ordered with left, right, or double returns.
This means that if you have a tread with edges exposed, you will need to order a return.

If you stand at the bottom of your staircase and look up, you can determine if you need returns:

If the left side is exposed, you will need to order a Left Return Tread.
Alternatively, if the right side is exposed, you will order a Right Return Tread.

If both edges of the tread are exposed, you need a Double Return Tread.

If both sides or edges of the tread fit up to a wall, then you do not need any returns and would order a No Return Tread.

Standard and Universal treads are both 11.5″ deep. Standard treads are used when both sides of the stairs will be against a wall.
