The space
Fombelle Design and Development sees potential where others see wear and age. Through a thoughtful blend of vision, craftsmanship and respect for original character, the team uncovers what makes the home unique and builds upon it.
Open, airy layouts allow the flooring to flow seamlessly from room to room, unifying the home with a sense of balance and continuity.
“The selection of Rockport wide plank flooring for this project was intentional, honoring the home’s colonial garrison style and cozy character while delivering a fresh, modern feel,” says builder and designer Gina Fombelle.
The floor
Rockport sets a warm, sophisticated tone throughout the space. “We chose wider planks to capture the authentic scale and timeless warmth of traditional New England homes,” says Gina. “Rockport’s subtle variation, gentle grain, and understated knots provide just the right texture to blend contemporary details with classic charm—resulting in a space that feels both updated and invitingly cozy.”
The structured hardwood plank pairs French oak with a Para Wood core whose blocks are laid perpendicular to the oak's grain, so the crossed grains restrain each other and the floors move less.
